Terms

Thurrock Adult Community College (TACC) is the adult education provider of the local authority, Thurrock Council. Tacc.ac.uk enables information about Thurrock Adult Community College to be made available via the Internet. The content of this website is intended to be valid only in the UK.

TACC continue to keep fees as low as possible thanks to funding received from the Government's Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA). Our courses are all delivered in Thurrock and are available to UK/EU residents, aged 19+ who live in a non-devolved adult education budget funded area. We are required to check that learners are eligible to study and may undertake status checks for fee concessions. Prices can be found against each course listing, including any fee concession rates. Due to the recent devolution of adult education to the neighbouring Greater London Authority (GLA), learners that reside in postcodes in the GLA are no longer eligible for ESFA funding. In these instances, we will signpost learners to their nearest provision or, if they prefer, offer the full cost rate at TACC. All the information is subject to change. For any queries, please contact the college on 01375 372476 or email TACC@thurrock.gov.uk.

Descriptions and price information

It is not possible to guarantee the accuracy or completeness of the information contained on www.tacc.ac.uk and therefore Thurrock Adult Community College accepts no liability for any inaccuracies, loss or damage arising from the use of, or reliance on, information obtained from this website. Course information and prices may change and we recommend you always check the most up-to-date information on www.tacc.ac.uk. Some courses also require you to purchase materials - any additional costs will be indicated on the Course Information sheets. Please do not buy equipment or materials until you have received confirmation that your course is running as we can refund course fees if a course is cancelled but not the cost of any equipment or materials purchased.

Every effort is made to ensure that prices for a course are shown correctly. If a course is shown at the wrong price, we will not be liable to supply a course to you at the stated price, provided that we notify you before we send you your receipt. In those circumstances, we will notify you and advise the correct price so you can decide if you wish to continue with the enrolment.

Course cancellations, refunds and transfers

If you enrol online, under the UK's distance selling regulations you have a right to cancel your enrolment within 14 days of booking and receive a full refund, or alternatively you can transfer to another course, where available. After this period it is not the policy of Thurrock Adult Community College to refund fees automatically when a change in circumstances prevents or discourages a learner from continuing with a particular class. Refunds will be allowed as below:

  • If a course is withdrawn from the programme then TACC will offer a full refund or a transfer
  • If a learner wishes to cancel/transfer from a course before it starts or on the first session a transfer can be arranged and any additional costs paid can be refunded.  If however a learner wishes to transfer thereafter, a charge of £15 will be administered.

Courses need to reach a certain size in order to meet Education & Skills Funding Agency standards. We wait as long as possible before we decide to cancel a class. At that time we will either merge classes, or offer a suitable alternative. If this is not possible and we have to close the course, a refund will be made. Where demand exceeds places we will try to offer additional courses.
