Thurrock’s Family Learning team embraced the theme of Children’s Mental Health Week (3-9 February) delivering a ‘Find Your Brave’ activity during their SMILE course for Key Stage 1 parents/carers and children at Giffards Primary School in Corringham. Finding your Brave can build confidence, self-esteem and make you feel good about yourself. Life often throws challenges your way and bravery isn’t about coping alone or holding things in. It’s about finding positive ways to deal with things that might be difficult, overcoming physical and mental challenges and looking after yourself.
Children’s Mental Health Week was launched by Place2Be in 2015 to shine a spotlight on the importance of children and young people’s mental health Place2Be report that around three children in every primary school class has a mental health problem, and many more struggle with challenges from bullying to bereavement.
