Our Learning Support

Our friendly and experienced staff are here to provide that extra helping hand

At Thurrock Adult Community College, we understand that learning is different for everyone and that, sometimes, you may need some support to achieve your goals. Our friendly and experienced staff are here to provide that extra helping hand.

How We Can Help You To Succeed

While you are studying with us, our tutors will do everything we can to make sure you gain the most from your learning experience and achieve your individual goals.

What Support Is Available?

If you have a learning difficulty or disability, mental health, or any other health conditions, please tell us when you enrol or tell your tutor when you start your course. The sooner we know the quicker we can put any additional support in place.

Examples of additional support we can put in place are:

  • Learning Support Assistant to work with you in class
  • Someone to write for you
  • Someone to read for you
  • Coloured paper
  • Different coloured overlays
  • Extra time in exams
  • Large keyboard
  • Screen magnifiers
  • Large print/fonts
  • Supervised breaks

Have A Disability, Learning Difficulty Or Long-term Health Condition?

If you have a disability, learning difficulty or long-term health condition, please let us know about it before the start of your course, ideally at enrolment. We can then take the necessary steps, based on your individual needs. We can liaise with advocates, carers and external agencies to ensure that any support given is appropriate. Any information you give us will be treated as strictly confidential and will only be passed to others with prior written consent.
